Job Summary:



Provides personal, equipment, and real property security for faculty, staff, students, and visitors within an assigned area of the College campus. Provides escort services, and other basic public assistance services as needed, and performs routine security and public safety patrol duties within assigned area. Remains alert to emergency situations and provides first-line response, emergency management, and/or referral if required.



Minimum Qualifications:




  • Graduation from High School
  • 5 years of full-time verifiable security- related experience
  • Possess a valid NYS Driver's License with no serious convictions
  • Be certified by NY State as a Security Guard
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Ability to work overtime as needed



Essential Functions:




  • Make appropriate supervisory entries in department computerized records management systems
  • Monitor the department computerized records management system for proper entries and information
  • Monitor job performance of officers, correct deficiencies and prepare counseling forms
  • Train officers in new procedures, use of equipment, etc. In addition to those duties required of a Patrol Security Officer, acts as shift supervisor at the direction of a Director of Safety & Security. Such assignment entails complying with the directives of a Director of Safety & Security requiring such compliance by members of the assigned shift
  • Assign Officers to posts/ patrols
  • Respond to all fire, medical or other emergencies
  • Coordinate response to calls for service or emergencies with police, fire, EMS, or college service
  • Monitor, review and approve requests for time off
  • Review and inform officers of policy changes, updates or special orders
  • Inform and assign officers of special details/ assignments occurring on shift
  • Communicate with other shift supervisors and relay important information
  • Review officer's reports for accuracy and comprehensiveness
  • Make notifications to a Director of Safety & Security regarding important information or incidents of a sensitive nature
  • Conform to rules and regulations detailed in the Security Officer's Manual and other duties deemed necessary by a Director of Safety & Security
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work, living and study environment for all students, faculty, staff and visitors and deal with all members of each constituent group professionally, courteously and with respect at all times



Preferred Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years full time security-related supervisory experience preferred
