Join Our Mission

The Director of Foster Care will be responsible for the overall leadership, management and implementation of the programmatic, administrative, financial, and operational systems related to the Foster Care program throughout the designated territory. The Foster Care program ensures children and families receive high-quality services aligned with treatment goals, manages risk, and ensures health and safety standards are upheld with state mandates, and agency policies.

Job Responsibilities

* Ensures children and families receive high quality services at frequencies consistent with treatment goals, state mandates, and Agency policy.

* Responsible for overall supervision of staff including coordinating and/or conducting staff training and development, performance evaluation, directing and assigning work, approve timecards and time off requests, new hire orientation and makes recommendations for other personnel actions including hiring, firing, promotion and demotions.

* Participates and initiates program development marketing efforts. Represents program in community and throughout state.

* Systematically monitors results against expectation and implements a corrective action plan where necessary including developing systems for tracking reports and other matters. Monitors and ensures staff compliance.

* Assists in development and administration of program budget. Ensures program and budget targets are met and/or exceeded.

* Provides on-call administrative oversight when necessary.

* Responsible to manage and reduce risk in his or her area(s) of responsibility and to report it if it is outside of his or her area(s) of responsibility or seek assistance when needed to resolve the matter. Assures health and safety risks are controlled or removed.

Job Requirements

* Minimum of MSW or master's degree in related field required.

* Minimum of 5-7 years of experience working with children and families in human services, social services, child welfare, case management, mental health, foster care and other related fields, required.

* Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience required. Preferred experience managing others in leadership role.

* Must have a valid Driver's License, with acceptable driving history to the Agency, and a reliable vehicle.

* Travel required 50%. Travel is primarily throughout Albany, Schenectady, and Rensselaer counties.

* Must be available for on-call duties for a 7-day period once every 8-10 weeks as part of a rotating schedule.

* Ability to work with an economically and culturally diverse population.

* Skills: decision making, organizational and communication skills including attention to detail, oral and written communication skills, and listening and training skills. Demonstrated time management and strategic thinking skills.

Salary

* $88,000 annually.
