What's the role?

In this dynamic role as Design & Development Engineer II you have a great opportunity to apply your drive, creativity and problem-solving skills in shaping the next generation of anchoring systems. Your key responsibility will be leading development activities to derive product solutions from concept to serial production. This includes the full bandwidth of ideation, prototyping, testing and optimizing with a high degree of self-reliance. This role requires creativity in design, proven understanding in relevant materials and manufacturing technologies in conjunction with design to cost.

As part of a global team, you are operating in a multi-disciplinary environment, interacting closely with experts from Marketing, Production, Supply, Quality and Testing to ensure the development of outstanding, new products. You work closely with our Product Managers and our markets on developing solutions to create value for our customers. Your hands-on, entrepreneurial and proactive mentality is needed to bring your visions to life including your ability to think outside the box. What does the role involve?
  • Develop mechanical product solutions based on market requirements, using NX CAD software and PDM software ECTR; perform analysis via hand calculations and/or finite element analysis
  • Systematically develop new concepts based on customer needs and cost targets
  • Work closely with suppliers to develop serial drawings, taking into consideration manufacturing requirements
  • Validate concepts in terms of function, cost, manufacturing technology, and quality in cooperation with Testing, Marketing, Quality, and Supply
  • Responsible for detailed design specification/engineering, manufacturing of components and assembly in conformity to standards and processes - design to the state of the art
  • Test developed solutions, including defining test setup and test execution
  • Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external partners
  • Document developed product, including development and design report

What you need is:
  • Bachelor's in mechanical engineering or design engineering, required
  • Minimum two (2) years of product development experience, required
  • Working knowledge of CAD software, required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of drawing features (dimensions, tolerances, design know-how) so that full specification can be made that is understood by internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of types of steel materials used for producing typical anchors and hardware products used for structural applications (Expansion Anchors, Screw Anchors, Cast in Anchors)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing technologies such as stamping/bending, welding, roll forming, cold forming, heat treatment, and coatings used for producing typical anchor products
  • Familiarity with development tools such as Design of Experiments (DoE), Morphological Box and Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (FMEA)
  • Basic understanding of design to cost methodology
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary and intercultural project teams
  • High commitment, self-responsibility and customer orientation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
