Job Description

As a Product Design Co-op, you will support the sensory evaluation and laboratory operations processes. This role offers hands-on experience in product testing, data collection, and analysis. Your work will involve preparing samples, conducting sensory sessions, ensuring the integrity of data collection, and sustaining inventories for both labs. In addition to sensory evaluation, you will assist with daily lab operations, including maintaining equipment, preparing solutions, and managing sample inventories. You will have the opportunity to engage in cross-functional projects. The position is also responsible for maintaining the product and ingredient databases and keeping the labs clean and sensory neutral. The brewery environment is fast paced but friendly, so the Co-Op should have good time management skills and strong work ethic, but also enjoy the camaraderie and fun team events with the brewery team.

You will learn how to organoleptically evaluate beverages and how these evaluations fit into any food and beverage company. You will also learn how to analyze and report data in a scientific and meaningful way to help influence business decisions.

What You'll Brew:


  • Protect the sensory profile of high-quality products and ensure profile consistency


  • Learn and understand how sensory assists in quality assurance in an active production brewing


  • Support lab operations, including equipment maintenance and inventory management


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project completion


  • Support laboratory operations and sensory team to meet project timelines and goals


  • Oversee interbrewery and flavor house shipments, both incoming and outgoing


  • Opportunities to complete benchtop prototype development needed for trial work and new product testing


  • Opportunities for personal research study

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of brewery operations preferred


  • Ability to learn quickly, prioritize, and make knowledgeable, quick decisions in a fast-paced environment


  • Time management and organizational skills, as well as ability to multi-task, are essential


  • Candidates that are results oriented, analytical, innovative, intellectually curious, and take initiative


  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects with minimal supervision


  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with cross functional teams


  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to continuously changing priorities


  • Strong attention to detail


  • Willing to follow Good Manufacturing Practices


  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs


  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
