Test Lab Experienced Engineer
Overview Department 431's R&D lab is looking for experienced engineers looking to propel their careers in a multi-disciplinary hands-on environment. D431 test engineers take ownership of the full lifecycle of diverse test projects which offer practical professional development. Project opportunities include shock and vibration qualification testing; troubleshooting and repair of shipboard components; and development and testing of prototypes, system mockups, component test stands; and calibration of liquid flow meters. Additionally, a number of shipboard components are operationally tested prior to installation. Tests frequently involve high pressure air and water, hydraulics, and electricity. Test stand designs developed by test engineers are manufactured and tested in the D431 shop. Most testing utilizes test instrumentation and data recording. All classes of submarines as well as developmental projects, such as IRAD and additive manufacturing, are supported. Responsibilities will include the following:
Lead a collaborative team of internal stakeholders and trade support for the full lifecycle of test projects including design of test stands, material sourcing, fabrication, assembly and test execution.
