The Arizona Student Unions is looking for talented Banquet Servers to join our team.

YOUR ROLE

In this role, you will perform various duties necessary in the preparation or service of food for catered functions. Ensuring the smooth operations of service and food safety practices for both in-house and off-site events. Join us in creating a safe, sanitary, and delightful experience for our community.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Greets and welcome guests, assist with seating and food service, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. Serve food and/or beverage to guests efficiently, ensuring proper timing and presentation.
  • Assist with the set-up, service and breakdown of all assigned banquet functions. Maintain cleanliness and organization of serving areas, equipment and tables.
  • Arrange and replenish buffet lines, drink stations or passed appetizers as needed. Replenish and clean up guests' plates and glasses as needed and clear plates between courses.
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards. Ensure compliance with local health regulations, including handling food with care and monitoring serving temperatures.
  • Assist with client complaints and escalate to leadership if needed. Works to ensure overall guest satisfaction. Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of clients and colleagues
  • Advanced knowledge of food safety
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced stressful environment
  • Knowledge of basic math and computer skills
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.
  • Knowledge of food service/banquet operations.
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/transport a maximum of 50lbs.
  • Ability to frequently reach, bend, lift, push, pull and/or carry while performing normal job functions.
  • Ability to stand continuously for at least 6 hours.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy with prior driving experience upon employment.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays to accommodate Catering schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous banquet and catering experience
  • Prior customer service experience
