Gastrointestinal Medical Oncologist Opportunity - Washington, D.C. - MedStar Health

The MedStar Washington DC Georgetown Cancer Institute, integrated with the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center-the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Metropolitan Washington DC area-is recruiting a faculty member specializing in Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology. This role integrates medical expertise, cutting-edge therapies, and comprehensive research from MedStar Health to advance the application of precision medicine in cancer treatment.

This is an optimal, academic and clinical-based position for a new graduate or experienced, attending physician.Candidates should be excellent communicators and clinicians, a collaborative contributor and have leadership qualities with a strong interest in supporting resident/medical student education. This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior faculty, as well as medical student and house staff education in an ACGME- accredited fellowship program with the opportunity for a faculty appointment at the appropriate academic level.

The opportunity's main location will be located at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, a 950-bed acute care academic medical center located in midtown Washington, D.C. It is also associated with the Otto J Ruesch Center for the Cure of GI Cancers, an organization solely focused on improving the lives of GI cancer patients through innovative research, personalized medicine, and focused advocacy.

The Hematology-Oncology division at this location includes 14 full-time physicians, 10 advanced practice providers, and the attending physician staff in the Department of Medicine includes >100 full-time teaching faculty. The cancer program is supported by multi-disciplinary teams from medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, genetics, clinical nutrition, research staff, clinical social workers, and dedicated clinical and support staff, including patient navigators.
