Position Highlights

The Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering (SIE) at the University of Arizona invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Software Engineering with an anticipated start date of August 2025. Specific areas of interest include (1) Formal Methods in Software Engineering, (2) Empirical Software Engineering, (3) Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Software Engineering, (4) Software Architecture, Design, (5) Software Evolution, Maintenance and Quality, and (6) Parallel, Distributed, HPC, and Concurrent Systems.

The ideal candidate should document publications of research at a high-quality level in well-respected peer-reviewed venues.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The
    successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong
    externally-funded research program, help grow the Software Engineering
    undergraduate and graduate degree programs, teach undergraduate courses,
    and develop graduate courses, and contribute to mentoring students,
    including those from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.
  • The
    successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to an
    environment that nurtures collaboration among researchers across the
    College and University. The successful candidate will also participate
    in outreach and contribute to departmental, college, and university
    service. In these, and other ways, the faculty member will help to
    develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement,
    increasing diversity, ensuring equity, and expanding collaborations with
    community and business partners.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. (or
    equivalent degree) at the time of hire in Software Engineering, Computer
    Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • The selected candidate must provide education credentials during the offer discussions.
  • No
    experience beyond the Ph.D. is required for appointment at the Assistant Rank.
