Key Position Details:

  • 0.5 FTE (40 hours per 2-week pay period)
  • Day/evening shifts
  • Occasional weekends

Job Description:

Serves as the gift shop's leader who is responsible for coordinating merchandising themes and displays, monitoring inventory and ordering, scheduling staff and volunteers, and assisting in the hiring and training process. Manages the shop's accounts by overseeing the daily account balance, and making bank deposits.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Daily operation.
    • Maintains shop appearance, by ensuring it's cleanliness and organization.
    • Stocks and rotates merchandise so products are easily accessible to customers, and displays are appealing.
    • Ensures storage areas are free from clutter and obstacles.
    • Conducts shop promotions as needed.
  • Staff and volunteer coordination.
    • Coordinates, supervises, and supports gifts shop volunteer and/or staff.
    • Supports ongoing recruitment, retention, and recognition.
    • Maintains the Gift Shop's scheduling process.
    • Assists with the performance management, development, and training of staff/volunteers.
    • Communicates customer satisfaction scores with staff, and conducts training based on customer feedback.
  • Accounting functions.
    • Ensures merchandise is accounted for against invoices.
    • Performs random pricing checks to ensure merchandise has been correctly priced.
    • Solves identified balancing problems.
    • Authorizes the payment of bills ensuring vendors are paid on time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
  • 2+ years merchandising/retail experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Gift shop experience

Physical Demands

  • Medium Work:
  • Lifting weight Up to 50 lbs. occasionally, Up to 25 lbs. frequently
