Position Title: Clinical Educator Faculty - Division of General Internal Medicine

Location: University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)

Reports to: Chief, Division of General Internal Medicine

Position Summary

The UCSF Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) is seeking passionate and dedicated physicians to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and contribute to UCSF's mission to improve healthcare quality and access for all patients. Our four general internal medicine practices serve approximately 25,000 patients that reflect the diversity of the San Francisco Bay Area. UCSF Health is one of the top-rated health systems and is home to one of the best Schools of medicine and Internal Medicine training programs in California and the nation.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, comprehensive, ambulatory internal medicine care, and will have the opportunity to contribute to the educational, scholarly, and clinical practice improvement missions of the division. We are interested in recruiting clinician teacher track faculty who are interested in spending the majority of their time in direct patient care with an opportunity for teaching as well as those interested in a clinician educator track with more emphasis on educational leadership and scholarship.

Key Responsibilities

* Clinical Care: Provide patient-centered, evidence-based care in an ambulatory internal medicine setting, focusing on the needs of patients with complex chronic illnesses. Candidates who want to focus their career primarily on the provision of direct clinical care with an opportunity to also include some medical student teaching are encouraged to apply

* Medical Education: Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows; contribute to curriculum development and educational innovations; lead or participate in educational research.

* Quality Improvement: Lead or collaborate on quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care, healthcare delivery, and patient outcomes.

* Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Support the division's commitment to promoting an inclusive and equitable environment for patients, students, faculty, and staff. Engage in efforts that advance health equity and reduce healthcare disparities for underserved populations.

Qualifications

* MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.

* Board Certification/Eligibility in Internal Medicine.

* Valid California medical license and DEA registration by the start date.

* Proven expertise in providing ambulatory internal medicine care, with a strong commitment to clinical excellence.

* Interest and experience in educational activities, including curriculum development, quality improvement, or educational research.

* Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical care, teaching, and/or research.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with practice innovation, quality improvement, behavioral health, or digital health initiatives.

* Experience in caring for diverse populations, including those from underrepresented or historically marginalized communities.

UCSF's Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency program is nationally recognized for training physicians to care for complex patients across ambulatory and inpatient settings. In addition to clinical excellence, DGIM researchers conduct a broad spectrum of research, from human genetics to population health, all aimed at improving healthcare outcomes and reducing disparities.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $110,500-$333,700. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

For positions that are 50% effort or less:

See Table 2 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $78,900-$238,300.
