The Department of Human Services, Torrance State Hospital is looking to add dedicated and compassionate Social Worker 1s to their dynamic team of professionals. You will play a vital role in providing support to individuals with psychiatric conditions, making a difference in their lives and the lives of others. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Social Worker 1, you will provide admission assessments, direct contact support to individuals, and serve as a contact for community providers, county liaisons, and family members in the best interest of the individuals served. You will also write social services discharges, case closings, transfer plans summarizing individuals' disposition, and the requirement for continued aftercare or follow-up services upon discharge. In addition, you will provide social work consultation to other professional disciplines and the treatment team.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (37.50-hour work week)
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours and schedule may change as operationally necessary
  • Overtime and travel as needed
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in social work or social welfare.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    1. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
