As a Senior Engineer on the Discover Team at Own, you will play a critical role in developing innovative solutions that enable our customers to access their cloud data seamlessly. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual who possesses a deep understanding of cloud technologies and data management.

Your Day-to-Day Role

  • Design, develop, and implement a new approach for customers to access their cloud data, enhancing usability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand customer needs, requirements, and pain points, and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Actively assist and guide less experienced team members to help them grow and advance, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Conduct thorough and constructive code reviews, providing valuable feedback to team members to maintain high code quality and promote best practices throughout the development process.
  • Build scalable and robust data services to ensure the seamless extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of cloud data from various platforms.
  • Conduct thorough research and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in cloud technologies and data access methods to continuously improve our offerings.
  • Work closely with the product management team to prioritize features and deliver high-quality results within defined timelines.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, providing technical expertise and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the team.
  • Perform regular code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices to maintain a high standard of code quality.


Your Work Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in software engineering ;
  • Proven experience as a Senior Engineer or similar role with a focus on data services and cloud technologies.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar, and experience with data query languages (e.g., SQL).
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud platform(s) (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and their data storage and retrieval mechanisms.
  • Expertise in data modeling, data security, and data optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and tools to handle large-scale data migrations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to approach complex challenges with a systematic and creative mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment while delivering high-quality results.


Important Details

This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work out of our Englewood Cliffs, NJ office a minimum of 3 days per week to maximize collaboration and interaction with the business. Travel may be required.
