Job Summary/Overview

Coordinates production activities for assigned areas on first shift including assurance that safe work practices are followed, acceptable quality levels are maintained, and optimum productivity levels are achieved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining production control boards in area
  • Assures work centers and cells are in operation and productive, including start-up, breaks, and through end of shift.
  • Recommends work schedule for area (Overtime and Staffing)
  • Assures all issues are posted on Corrective Action Logs
  • Assures work instructions are followed in all assigned areas
  • Assures the following for assigned areas;

    • Safe work practices are followed
    • Acceptable Quality Levels are maintained
    • Optimum productivity levels are sustained


  • Works with Supervisor to correct adverse behavior related to safe work practices, acceptable quality levels, and optimum productivity levels.
  • Assist Supervisor in defining current associates level of training, cross training needs, plans, maintaining the training matrix, and train employees in new operations and equipment.
  • Must perform a minimum of four hours direct labor (ability to perform multiple CNC job functions/set-up) work during the shift.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintain time, attendance, and production records.
  • Confers with other leadpersons and supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead others through influence.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Previous experience in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) as well as Internet software and E-mail is preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED), advanced degree (associates or certificate from college or technical school) preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to safely lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs.
