SCOPE OF WORK:

The Development Coordinator is responsible for overseeing volunteerism, marketing and communications, and community engagement. The role involves collaborating with IRC staff to identify and fulfill volunteer, intern, practicum, and mentor needs. This includes recruiting, screening, training, and supervising these individuals, providing ongoing support, and managing their information in a central database. The coordinator will develop trauma-informed training materials to effectively prepare volunteers and others for working with vulnerable populations, such as refugees, asylees, and victims of human trafficking. Additionally, the position is responsible for managing IRC Wichita's internal and external communications, ensuring program activities are promoted through social media and various campaigns. The coordinator also engages with donors and the community, building relationships through outreach activities, special events, and fundraising initiatives, while leveraging individual and corporate support to advance IRC Wichita's strategic plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Volunteer Coordination

  • Coordinate with staff to identify volunteer needs and develop assignment descriptions.
  • Recruit, interview, and conduct outreach activities to attract new volunteers.
  • Lead information sessions, orientations, trainings, and recertification for volunteers.
  • Maintain regular communication and act as a liaison between staff and volunteers.
  • Manage volunteer postings on Trello and conduct recognition events.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records in Salesforce and track monthly timesheets.
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as needed.
  • Participate in HQ's Volunteer Coordination Communities of Practice

Internship/Practicum Coordination

  • Manage and maintain a professionally run intern and practicum program.
  • Liaise with program managers to identify and align intern/practicum opportunities.
  • Develop and post assignment descriptions based on staff and client needs.
  • Organize recruitment cycles (fall, spring, summer) and manage the application and interview process.
  • Oversee onboarding, background checks, and exit processes for interns.
  • Maintain relationships with local universities and renew MOUs as needed.
  • Track and report intern/practicum hours and maintain accurate records in Salesforce.
  • Review and update related SOPs and documentation as necessary

Marketing-Social Media and Communication

  • Plan and execute donor cultivation events and outreach activities through various fundraising strategies.
  • Support DIY fundraising initiatives and special giving events with community groups.
  • Manage donation records in Salesforce, ensure data accuracy, and generate reports as needed.
  • Communicate with current and potential donors, including generating acknowledgments.
  • Develop outreach activities to raise awareness of IRC's mission and engage the community.
  • Assist with the collection and distribution of in-kind and monetary donations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to amplify IRC messaging and community support.
  • Research and identify new donor and partnership opportunities.
  • Maintain a list of grant opportunities and contribute to proposal development.

CNCS AmeriCorps and VISTA Coordination

  • Recruit VISTA members as needed, in collaboration with department supervisors.
  • Maintain ongoing relationship with CNCS and manage grant activities.
  • Coordinate with VISTA members and supervisors to prepare funder reports as required.

Training, Fundraising and Other

  • Conduct internal staff trainings on volunteer/intern requests and social media policies.
  • Supervise volunteer interns, communications/social media interns, and other volunteers
  • as needed.
  • Plan and execute signature events.
  • Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Canva, Trello, and Salesforce preferred.
  • Comfortable navigating social media platforms.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and effective time management.
  • Skilled in multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized.
  • Capable of working in a multi-cultural setting.
  • Demonstrates initiative and follow-through.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Working Environment:

  • Fulltime onsite with ability to transition to hybrid format upon evaluation. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with legally required insurance. Position will require using own transportation within service delivery area. Mileage reimbursement available.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

US Benefits: The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.

In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs. Part-time employees are eligible for a proportionate amount of paid time off. These additional benefits apply to employees who work at least 6 months within a 12 month time period.
