The operating rooms of VCU Medical Center and The Children's Hospital of Richmond provide care 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. VCU Medical Center is the only Level 1 trauma center verified by the American College of Surgeons in Richmond, VA. Anesthesia Technicians at VCU Health provide support to Anesthesiologists and Nurse Anesthetists at over 70 anesthetizing sites within VCU Medical Center and The Children's Hospital of Richmond. Anesthesia Technicians prepare equipment and supplies for surgical cases and procedures and provide support to the anesthesia care team. The Anesthesia Tech Supervisor serves as operational supervisor to the Anesthesia Technicians. This position supervises and oversees day-to-day function of Anesthesia Technicians. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Five years anesthesia support experience or Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or Technologist by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologist and Technicians (ASATT), or LPN, or EMT-P with a minimum of (3+) years' experience in an anesthesia support role, or EMT-B, CNA Licensure, CMA, or CCMA with a minimum of (5+) years' experience in an anesthesia support role. Current BLS certification Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current Certification in A.T, Technologist, or Technologist by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologist and Technicians (ASATT), or LPN, or EMT-P with a minimum of (3+) years' experience in an anesthesia support role, or EMT-B, CNA Licensure, CMA, or CCMA with a minimum of (5+) years' experience in an anesthesia support role. Current BLS certification Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a medical support role in Anesthesia Experience PREFERRED: Five (5) + years of experience as a Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer. A.T.) or employed in a support role for an anesthesia department Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience Education/training REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent Education/training CAT; EMT-P; LPN; EMT-B; CMA or CCMA; or CNA required within 24 months of hire. Education/training PREFERRED: Conflict Resolution training Bachelor's Degree in a health related field Independent action(s) required: Must be able to prioritize activities of the staff while communicating with anesthesia providers regarding needs and expectations. Independently oversees and manages cleaning of all airway equipment and ensures that logs are completed to maintain corporate compliance. Additional position requirements: Must be available to work any shift (day, nights, evenings, weekends and holidays). Must be flexible to provide oversight to off-shifts when needed.
