job summary & Scope of leadership role

The Manager II, Commercial Operations is a critical role within the Product Management function for Commercial Gearing who is responsible for driving profitable growth through the tactical execution of the strategic plan. This role will lead a team that is expected to provide differentiated service for our key products and also for our top customers. Significant collaboration is expected with both the inside and outside sales teams to enable growth to key customers and markets.

Internally within the division, this position provides leadership for the commercial pricing, quote and order processing teams. The role is expected to run the business with the expectation of attainment of appropriate service levels. Particular emphasis will be placed on using process improvement, Lean, Six Sigma or other tools to drive customer satisfaction.

Additional responsibilities will be providing the orders forecast for the products within the scope of responsibility to be able to effectively communicate to the operational sites as well as to leadership on expected future orders to support attainment of the revenue plan.

This position is a hybrid work arrangement with 3 days in office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business and Team Leadership

  • Conduct business in accordance with Regal Rexnord's Core Values.

  • Lead, coach and motivate direct reports, with a critical eye for talent and associate development. (Leadership will include remote teams, with some associates outside of potentially outside of the country; therefore additional effort may be needed to provide the appropriate level of guidance and support).

  • Leverage the Associate Survey for engagement feedback and drive accountability for Action Planning within the team.

  • Actively role model and support all site and organization EH&S efforts. Drive a culture of safety and provide active leadership relative to safety accountability.

Orders and Sales Support

  • Monitor sales pipelines, track performance metrics and identify growth opportunities.

  • Collaborate with sales and internal business partners to drive customer acquisition and retention.

  • Create the order forecast for the areas of responsibility.

  • Work closely with the operations and plant teams to ensure timely delivery of products.

  • Support the management team with insights on product and customer volumes.

  • Deploy commercial programs and align the team to deliver the needed growth.

Contract Negotiations & Risk Management

  • Negotiate contracts and Terms and Conditions with customers.

  • Implement rebate and pricing strategies to win new business.

  • Assess and mitigate risks related to commercial operations.

  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor credit risks and payment terms.

Annual Operating Plan (AOP) Support

  • Provide appropriate service levels to support the expected business growth.

  • Collaborate on key priorities with the sales team to deliver to the sales targets.

  • Provide information on pricing decisions that are in alignment with profit goals.

80/20 Complexity Reduction and Pricing

  • Lead the tactical execution and commercial support that delivers the orders and sales plan, including pricing initiatives that are aligned with profit expectations and product strategies, aiming to seed the market with our target products.

  • Drive solutions for product mix with demand shaping strategies.

  • Implement portfolio simplification & complexity reduction for margin expansion using core 80/20 principles.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum and Desired Requirements:
This position is subject to policies and procedures set forth by the State Department and applicants who do not meet such requirements will not be eligible for the position.

  • Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Engineering, Operations or Business/Marketing

  • Minimum 7 years of related and progressive experience, ideally in a manufacturing industry.

  • Proven people leadership competencies are required; direct people management experience is strongly desired.

  • Extensive experience interacting with both internal and external customers is required, along with a demonstrated understanding of customer needs for products and services and the ability to translate those needs into business actions.

  • Strong negotiation skills are required, including the ability to negotiate positively for mutual agreement and identify elements of risk in making recommendations. A demonstrated understanding of commercial, regulatory, and intellectual property elements of a contract is also necessary.

  • Strategic decision-making skills regarding pricing, customer problems, SIOP forecast and similar business-related concerns is required.

  • Familiarity with 80/20 complexity reduction and product simplification experience is a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including presentation skills, are required.

  • Proficiency with data management and analytics (Excel, PowerBI) is required. Experience with ERP systems (Oracle and/or SAP) and CRM (SalesForce) is desired.

  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed domestically and internationally up to 30% is required.
