Position Highlights Please note: The Rate of Pay range has been updated from $56,484 - $62,000 to $61,008 - $62,000. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate I to work on radar instrument development projects and conduct original research on the use of future radar systems to obtain quantitative information about the surfaces of Venus, Mars and the Moon. The Postdoctoral Research Associate I will work as part of the Space Exploration SAR instrument development team, and the EnVision VenSAR Science Team, to develop strategies for the use of these systems. This work will include analysis of possible target regions on relevant planets, modeling of radar performance, participation in remote and in-person team meetings, presenting results at conferences, and preparation of original scientific research manuscripts.

This is a year-to-year position, renewable for additional time contingent on successful completion of responsibilities and availability of funding.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct original research related to the future use of radar data of Venus, Mars, and the Moon.
  • Coordinate with broader planning efforts of the EnVision VenSAR team and contribute to broader team efforts.
  • Participate in remote and in-person team meetings, presenting results at conferences, and preparation of original scientific research manuscripts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Skills in scientific programming.
  • Ability to work in teams and communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Planetary Science, Geosciences, or related field at time of position start date.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using radar remote sensing data of planetary surfaces, particularly of Venus, Mars, and the Moon.
  • Experience with radar instrument development, or the interest in developing such skills.
