Hours available in our Shelter Staff program:



  • Saturday and Sunday 8am-4pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 4pm-12am (2nd shift)


Residential Counselors are responsible for working closely with clients in a congregate emergency residential shelter site. This position also provides oversight of site operations which include enforcing safety measures, program rules, and evening expectations using a trauma informed and client centered approach. Other responsibilities include: serving either lunch or dinner or both, providing guidance and information to clients regarding the daily activity schedule, rules and policies; overseeing security and safety; completing housekeeping duties; ensuring daily chores are completed; providing emergency crisis management to individuals.

Qualifications include:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with individuals in need of social services (preferably low income individuals) preferred.
  • Empathy and compassion for others.
  • Excellent crisis management, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills required in basic computer software and data collection.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
