$25 hourly

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Program Director, the Art Specialist is responsible for sourcing art supplies, preparing lessons, and delivering developmentally appropriate instruction on various art techniques. The Art Specialist will foster creativity and self-expression among participants.

We are looking for a part-time creative, flexible art specialist to join our afterschool program.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement course curriculum
  • Teach general arts and crafts skills to children in creative and engaging ways
  • Request, manage, and maintain an accurate inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for activities.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of all supplies and equipment
  • Adhere to CAS Frederick Douglass Center policies and procedures
  • Responsible for organizing and updating notice boards
  • Align activities with Frederick Douglass' monthly themes or project-based concepts
  • Set up and break down the classroom or teaching area as needed
  • Host seasonal art and craft displays or exhibitions
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Two years of experience teaching children and youth


Competencies:



  • Creative approach to teaching arts and crafts
  • Ability to connect with current youth culture
  • Strong creativity to engage youth of all ability levels in arts and crafts activities
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to work independently
