JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Center for Student Advising and Engagement (CSAE) within the College of Health and Human Development (HHD) at Penn State is seeking an Academic Advising Manager. The CSAE serves as the hub for pre-major and exploratory advising within the college.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all staff in the Center for Student Advising and Engagement in the College of Health and Human Development (Five to six full-time staff members).

  • Oversee staffing, program operations, advising structure and schedules, hire and train new staff, and facilitate unit programming such as New Student Orientation, group advising sessions, and professional development opportunities.

  • Organize and lead overall college's academic advising program in cooperation with HHD's eight academic departments' faculty and professional advisers.

  • Serve as a central conduit for program, policy, and procedure updates to and from university groups and councils such as the University Advising Council, Student Orientation and Transition Programs, ACUE, HHD's Undergraduate Program Council, and other relevant groups.

  • Chair the College Advising Council.

  • Manage academic adviser assignments for all departments in the college.

  • Oversee the NCAA Student Athletic Verification Process.

  • Facilitate college advising professional development and related budget expenses.

  • Work collaboratively to create new programs and services that promote the success of students and enhance the effectiveness of advising.

  • Serve as Dean's Proxy, approving college-level academic decisions such as Change of Major, Change of Campus, Re-Enrollment, and Leave of Absence.

  • Provide academic advising services to a roster of HHD pre-major and exploratory students.

  • Participate in college recruitment and retention programs such as Accepted Student Programs and New Student Orientation.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a Master's Degree or higher, plus eight years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Also requires at least three years of supervisory experience.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$61,800.00 - $89,600.00
