Lunar Permanence: This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As a Senior Systems Engineer on the Lunar Permanence Cross Program Integration team, your role will involve leading the integration across program elements, defining receivables/deliverables, and creating technical and procurement content for Statements of Work (SOWs). You will closely collaborate with procurement, lead integration forums, track progress, and ensure top issues and risks are addressed and managed effectively. Your active involvement in decision-making, tracking metrics, and working with element IPTs will significantly contribute to the success of the Lunar Permanence business unit.

Passion for our mission and vision is required! Denver, CO, Huntsville, AL, or Seattle, WA are preferred but position is open to all locations listed.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead vehicle integration and systems engineering activities and products in accordance with tailored system engineering standards and practices:

  • Develop, manage, and allocate requirements & interfaces
  • o Manage and execute gated/milestone design and operational reviews
    o Develop and/or mature Concept of Operations documents
    o Develop, review, and assess verification artifacts (test plans, test reports, analysis reports, inspection reports, etc.)
    o Manage Vehicle Qualification and Test Planning
    o Develop and own vehicle technical resource budgets (mass, power, link, etc.)

  • Ensure all aspects of the vehicle are working across the product lifecycle

  • Act as the negotiator between multiple and sometimes conflicting interests in order to make sure the vehicle is optimized while ensuring internal and external stakeholders' needs are being represented

  • Provide mentoring and technical leadership

  • Lead integration, procurement, and delivery of hardware from SLD to other elements or from other elements to Blue.

  • Define Receivables/Deliverables for cross program hardware within SLD, including common and to/from different elements.

  • Define technical and procurement content for SOWs.

  • Closely work with Procurement to track status and resolve issues.

  • Ensure hardware risks are included in program risks and being managed.

  • Create and elevate decisions to SLD board.

  • Track metrics for work being completed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering or another technical field

  • 8+ years of systems engineering experience including leading hardware integration, procurement, and delivery processes, preferably within the aerospace or space industry.

  • Ability to integrate and coordinate across business, partner and customer elements

  • Proficient in tracking and analyzing metrics for work completion, ensuring progress on deliverables, and providing comprehensive reporting for program oversight and decision-making.

  • Exceptional collaboration skills, with a track record of working closely with procurement teams to track status, resolve issues, and ensure seamless logistics for hardware delivery.

  • Experience leading small multi-disciplinary development teams on fast-paced projects

  • Experience in conducting integration forums with element Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to align requirements and address technical challenges.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

  • Travel expected up to 25% of the time

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary development projects, including managing requirements, priorities, scope, and schedule, and cost.

  • Experience with NASA development program.

  • Supply chain management experience.

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $140,959.00-$197,342.25;CO applicants is $129,611.00-$181,454.70;WA applicants is $140,959.00-$197,342.25
