Primary Function of Organizational Unit
It is the mission of the Department of Pediatrics, East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine, to provide exemplary medical education/training of physicians in pediatric medicine at the undergraduate and graduate levels . Additionally, it is the mission of the department to provide model comprehensive primary and consultative subspecialty care to children of eastern North Carolina, to advance scientific knowledge through basic and clinical research, and to provide continuing medical education opportunities for physicians in the region.
Job Duties
Temp Hire Trainee NP for Mt. Olive CAC: Approximately 10 hours/week - onsite at MOCAC or TBCAC 1 day/week
Sept through end of November:

  • Attend training for medical CME rostering (Lake J)
  • Shadow TEDI BEAR NP at MOCAC and other medical providers at TEDI BEAR CAC
  • Attend Monthly MDT meetings in Wayne County as an observer/learner (3rd Monday's 10-11:30 am)


December: Provide medical examinations for alleged child victims affiliated with the military once rostered by CMEP
Minimum Education/Experience
Graduation from a physician assistant program approved by the N.C. Board of Medical Examiners and "approved to practice medical acts" based on education and experience by the Board of Medical Examiners and two years of experience in the specialty area of assignment; or licensed as a registered nurse by the Board of Nursing and graduation from a nurse practitioner program approved by the N.C. Joint Subcommittee, and two years of experience in the specialty area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
