Cape Fox Facilities Services is seeking a Biologist to join our team in Rocky Mountain Laboratories, Hamilton, MT in support of the NIH.

Responsibilities:



  • Perform a wide variety of procedures and techniques, including isolation and culture of various infectious agents, DNA and RNA isolation from infectious agents, PCR, qRT-PCR, DNA and protein electrophoresis, immunoblotting, ELISA, and animal studies.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of research experiments, including animal experiments.
  • Provide assistance to laboratory personnel in the performance of specialized procedures and techniques such as reading and analysis of x-rays, hematology data, blood chemistry data and on performing on these techniques.
  • Keep updated on research scientific literature for new methods and procedures that may be considered for application or modification to selected experiments; making minor modifications or adaptations to established methods, procedures, and/or techniques to solve problems in the work.
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records of experiments and results.
  • Responsible for laboratory upkeep and routine maintenance of equipment. Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment including chemicals, biological materials, etc. required to handle biological materials, carcinogens, recombinant protein materials, acids, biological wastes, etc.
  • Operate and communicate effectively in a group, team-oriented working environment. Work with and support others in a collegial, open, respectful, and interactive working manner.
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of data and prepare summaries of laboratory findings to be used in reports and papers for publication in scientific journals. Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and/or posters.
  • Work collaboratively with the Federal Task Leader and others in the lab to successfully complete experiments and promote the NIAID missions.
