Job Summary

Works closely with the Construction Project Manager on the Coastal Subsurface Monitoring project that entails of establishing new coastal subsurface monitoring system in Southeast Florida cities vulnerable to evolving near-shore subsurface water and saltwater risks to infrastructure. Assists in facilitating the selection of sites for potential construction, interfacing with contractors, city, municipal and permitting agencies. Responsible for oversite and record keeping during installation of monitoring wells in South Florida in dense urban settings

  • Prepares and organize field and or lab activities such as tracking equipment inventory, sample analysis and field work schedule.
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshoot issues with water quality or corrosion sensors, and/or associated telemetry systems as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory guidelines, download, enter and manage data; perform and maintain data QA; Analyze results and prepare reports
  • Clearly communicates any issues with site safety, accessibility, or other challenges and ability to enforce site safety protocols.
  • Participate in team meetings including interaction with and presentations to external entities to report on project progress and conduct other outreach related to project goals
  • Performs data collections and analyzes research results. Assist in report writing and graphical presentation of research data.
  • Periodically visit the sites throughout South Florida for sensor calibration and manual data collection.
  • Responsible for verifying installation location and record keeping in accordance with the project plans and documents, and efficiently communicating any on-site issues or variations on site
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience or Master's degree.

Departmental Requirements

Ability to travel within the 4-county region of southeast Florida (from Palm Beach to Monroe counties) to job sites, government, stakeholder, and contractor offices

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and site plans
  • Knowledge and experience with shallow or deep drilling techniques, soil and groundwater sampling procedures, and data telemetry systems.
  • Experience conducting research and field studies in urban settings
  • Education in Biology, Earth Sciences, GeoSciences, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or other STEM field.
