Summary

Generates invoicing for billable activities in the warehouse and ensures all invoicing is processed following logistics and customer guidelines. Answers questions regarding billing inquiries/discrepancies and works closely with team members/management to adjust billing inaccuracies, as needed. Acts as a billing and insurance subject matter expert.

Job Duties

  • Maintains appropriate internal controls over daily balance of cash receipts, deposit reconciliation, and charge slip totals.
  • Coordinates the collection of overdue accounts and maintains required records, reports, and files within compliance regulations.
  • Obtains financial information as requested by lawyers and paralegals. Performs certain cost analyses as part of ongoing and annual budget preparation upon client request.
  • Maintains daily internal audit of all evaluation and management coding from charge slips and/or progress notes prior to entry.
  • Follows and implements required procedures for posting daily office charges and procedures.
  • Coordinates the submission of electronic bills.
  • Maintains appropriate control of demographic information including new insurance information, address, and phone number changes.
  • Reviews new and updated billing instructions from clients and ensures adherence to the guidelines.
  • Reconciles on all monetary balances on a daily basis to all practice accounts.
  • Maintains check list for consistent and standard work on charge entry for practice.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED with appropriate training or
  • Associate's Degree
  • 2 years experience in a medical office with a high level of excellence in coding.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume atmosphere.
  • Knowledge of evaluation and management coding.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • CCA - Certified Coding Associate AHIMA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • CCS - Certified Coding Specialist AHIMA - State of Pennsylvania
  • CCS-P - Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based AHIMA - State of Pennsylvania
  • CPC - Certified Professional Coder - State of Pennsylvania
  • CPC-H-Certified Professional Coder-Hospital AAPC - State of Pennsylvania

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Epic billing system.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
