Position Summary

The Department of Film and Digital Arts within the College of Fine Arts anticipates that there may be a need to hire Adjunct Faculty to teach in-person courses in the fall 2024 and spring 2025 semesters. Openings potentially include the following subjects:

Video Production, Producing, Digital Post Production, Visual Effects, Animation, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Directing, Editing, Film History, Introduction to Film Studies, Game Design or Development, and other film and digital arts related production topics, or film history and criticism topics.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the Department Chair.

Wages
Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Film and Digital Arts are compensated on the basis of credit-hour course loads. As of May 1, 2024, a three-credit course will be compensated at $4,812.69.

Best Consideration Dates
For best consideration please apply by these dates:
August 1, 2024 for fall 2024 semester
November 15, 2024 for spring 2025 semester.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications to teach or develop courses in the field or subfield for which you are applying are determined by Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirements for faculty, and must be met by one of these ways:

1. Master's degree in the discipline or subfield; or
2. Successful completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield; or
3. Ability to demonstrate tested experience that the Department of Film and Digital Arts has determined to be equivalent to a Master's degree in the discipline or subfield. This must include at least 5 years of professional experience working in the discipline or subfield, which will be ranked on a scale of 1 (weakest) to 5 (strongest).

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
2. Significant professional experience in film or digital arts, in the subfield for which you are applying
3. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
