Position Highlights |
The R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy at the University of Arizona Health Sciences in Tucson invites applicants for a tenured faculty position in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Applicants with an established research program on longevity diseases are encouraged to submit CV and Research Plan with their application to be considered. An endowed chair with a highly competitive startup package is available for this recruitment. The incumbent will join a college currently ranked 4th nationally in NIH funding and a department with current research strength in pharmacology, toxicology, medicinal chemistry, and pharmaceutics, including drug discovery efforts for Alzheimer's and other age-related neurodegenerative diseases. The Arizona Center for Drug Discovery and the new Coit Center for Longevity and Neurotherapeutics have been established in the College of Pharmacy. The overall mission of the new Longevity Center is to accelerate understanding of aging, longevity and/or neuronal health as well as foster efforts to develop new opportunities for prevention and drug discovery in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson, ALS, and others. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Maintain independent research programs. Maintain strong, extramural funded programs.
- The candidate will be expected to produce strong peer-reviewed publications, gain competitive federal grants, and play a key role in national leadership in an area related to the pharmacology of aging and neurodegenerative disease.
- Contribute to undergraduate, graduate (PhD, M.S.) and professional (PharmD) education.
- Actively participate in divisional/departmental program metrics for academic achievement.
- Lead
or contribute to "team science" based interdisciplinary research grants/projects. - The successful candidate should have a strong track record of scholarly productivity and demonstrated ability to secure independent, peer-reviewed funding such as NIH grants.

Minimum Qualifications |
- PhD, PharmD or MD degree.
- Demonstrated
ability to secure independent, peer-reviewed funding such as NIH R01.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Record of productivity and innovation in academic accomplishments as evidenced by publications and successful peer-reviewed funding.
- Established expertise and national leadership in longevity research.
