The Marketing Specialist serves as the marketing and game lead for all assigned sports. This includes comprehensive marketing, social media, advertising and promotional planning, working with coaches, sports information, creative services, event management and tickets sales/operations. Includes oversite of interns and student volunteers for gameday and marketing plan execution. This position reports to the Assistant AD of Marketing. This position requires the ability work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Assist in developing and implementing marketing, branding and promotional plans for assigned sports to increase attendance, awareness, and revenue. Assist with coordinating the planning of game day sponsorship activities.
- Prepare and execute detailed game scripts to direct music, video content, public address announcements, spirit squads and other resources to deliver a high-quality fan experience for assigned sports.
- Manage gameday staff such as interns, public address announcers, music personnel and spirit squads. Ensure staff is prepared with timing coordination procedures for each game to ensure sponsor ads are visibly displayed throughout the game.
- Coordinate Marketing Internship program by recruiting interns, scheduling interns to events, and help develop students into the next leaders of the industry.
- Create and display unique ways to enhance fan experience and the Arizona Athletics brand. Concentrating on live event productions and appealing to a multi-generational audiences, incorporating key memory recalls that will enhance the Arizona brand.
- Cultivate relationships with campus partners to identify mutually beneficial programming for Arizona students around home athletic events. Working alongside campus programming and communication teams to find ways to enhance the student experience on campus in a mutually beneficial way.
- Collaborate with assigned sports and other external units of the athletic department to ensure cohesive messaging across all platforms. Meet regularly with departmental heads and coaches to create live content that will be engaging and memorable for fans attending in-person and virtually.
- Participate in meetings to ensure the Arizona brand is at the forefront in the world of sports.
- Plan and assist with community outreach and grassroots marketing programs to create excitement for Arizona athletics. Attend meetings and showcase the Arizona brand to the community at large.
- Update select content on ArizonaWildcats.com to deliver timely and relevant information to fans, ticketholders, donors and students. Work to ensure information is accurate, on time, and appeals to multi-generational fan base.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Knowledge of NCAA and Big 12 rules and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, including both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, and think critically.
- Ability to work well with others and comfortable taking initiative.
- Ability to have a professional image and demeanor.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
- One (1) year of relevant work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Two years of experience in collegiate or professional sports marketing. Experience can include internships or graduate assistant level.
- Email marketing experience.
- SideArm website experience.
- Demonstrated experience in attendance percentages at games.
- Experience serving multiple sports fan experience activities.
