JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The laboratory of Associate Professor Joseph Cotruvo, Jr. in the Department of Chemistry at The Pennsylvania State University, seeks to fill a postdoctoral research position focused on rare earth element biochemistry and technology development. Projects will involve development of novel approaches using biological ligands to recover, separate, and detect rare earth elements. Education and Experience The ideal postdoctoral candidate will have extensive experience in one or more of the following fields: f-element chemistry, protein biochemistry, bioinorganic spectroscopy, chemical biology and molecular biology methods, and chemical engineering. The applicant must have recently received, or be scheduled to receive, a Ph.D. in an area broadly relevant to our research program by the time employment starts. The individual should be highly self-motivated and is expected to lead their own individual projects as well as contribute to collaborative research efforts.
