Job Description

Maintain and repair equipment associated with the facility and production by ensuring proper operation of machinery, electrical, and mechanical equipment.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Maintain/troubleshoot electrical and automated controls using schematics and electrical drawings associated with manufacturing and systems
  • Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and technical support of facility electrical requirements.
  • Troubleshoot electrical control systems inclusive of motors and their associated controls. Must have the ability to install/setup VFDs, as well as servo motor controls, troubleshoot PLCs and peripheral control devices.
  • Responsible for maintaining all manufacturing process equipment by performing preventative maintenance, routine repairs and calibration with minimal down time
  • Use computers and/or machine interfaces to access, maintain and/or acquire data. Mathematical ability to perform and/or understand the calculations used in qualifications and procedures. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and technical data.
  • Establish and maintain preventative maintenance procedures for all electrical and mechanical systems. Carry out preventative maintenance as written in accepted procedures
  • Identify and locate required parts for failed systems
  • Cross-train other technicians in a timely and professional manner.
  • Timely communication of technical problems and issues affecting plant performance to management
  • This position requires occasional overtime, call-ins, and some scheduled weekend work
  • Document repair information, create standard operating procedures for repetitive tasks, and share knowledge to mentor others
  • Administer lock-out, tag-out program
  • Oversee implementation and administration of NFPA70E
  • Cost control relating to electrical maintenance
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Vendors and Contractors
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Associates degree in the electrical field is a plus but not required
  • 2+ years of work-related experience directly associated with PLC's and DC and AC drives
  • Self-motivated with the ability to solve problems logically and quickly
  • Must be able to support a 24-hour operation, may include on-call status
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills relating to PLC's, AC/DC drives and 3 phase power and power distributions
  • Previous experience working with Allen-Bradley and Siemens is desirable
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communicational skills with all levels of the organization
  • Printing, coating and extrusion experience a plus
  • Project management skills
  • Possess a strong Electrical/Electronic background with a minimum of 2-5 years of progressive Automated Controls, Programming, Troubleshooting in a manufacturing equipment/facility maintenance environment (medical device or pharmaceutical related operations a plus.)
  • Minimum education: High School Diploma/GED
  • AA Degree/Vocational (or equivalent experience)

  • The starting rate of pay for this position is $38.00 an hour; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
