JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Seeking students with broad engineering skills and interests to work part-time at the Meehl Innovation Commons in Burke Center. Staff will work with entrepreneurs, inventors, industry, professors, teachers, and other students primarily on product development projects ranging from simple mechanical inventions to complex, multi-component prototypes. Meehl Innovation Commons functions as a free service for the Erie region, therefore, it is essential that its workers represent the university and its values well in every setting. Meehl Innovation Commons seeks potential staff with electrical, mechanical, and plastics engineering-related experience who can work independently, are self-managed, and learn what they need to know with minimal assistance. Team-oriented work ethic is essential. Duties vary, including but not limited to: product development projects, machine build projects, 3D printing and machine maintenance, CAD work, presentations, tutorials, brainstorming sessions, meetings, record keeping (notes and database updates), and general ingenuity. Availability for occasional travel is favorable. This application will require a resume and interview. References are highly valued.
