JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The College of Ag Sciences is seeking motivated students to assist with ongoing research of the Spotted Lanternfly. The position is based out of Berks Campus and will support multiple research projects within the quarantine area.

Tasks include:

  • assist in the design and execution of research experiments under the general direction of senior research personnel and according to established research plans;
  • contribute to experiments in the field to test hypotheses concerning insect behavior and control;
  • make observations of insect behavior;
  • assist with conducting field surveys of insect populations;
  • collect live insects for experiments;
  • count insects and collect other experimental data;
  • assist with plant and insect colony maintenance; data entry and record keeping.

Previous experience in relevant fields is welcome, but not as necessary as the motivation to learn and contribute to a learning and growing work environment. This is a summer research position for 30-40 hours per week and is primarily outdoors, with some computer-based work including record keeping.

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
