About the I.T. Team and Position Overview:

The NETSCOUT IT Team is currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer responsible for providing design, implementation and operational support for a billion-dollar global enterprise. Being responsible for the network infrastructure and delivery of services, the successful candidate will be a self-starting, highly motivated person who not only has experience working with the latest networking technologies but is able to manage multiple projects, implementations, and steady state operations simultaneously in hybrid cloud (public/private), traditional and co-location environments. Supporting over 25 locations worldwide, the Senior Network Engineer will be a leadership role for the team ensuring the stability and integrity of global LAN/WAN, Wireless LAN, Cloud architecture and network services, remote access, Unified Communications, internet services and general network services. This position covers all aspects of Network Engineering & Operations including capacity planning, service delivery and support using the latest technologies at a company who is an industry leader.

Basic Qualifications/Skills:



  • Provide network technology planning, configuration, implementation, troubleshooting, and operational support for (25+) NetScout sites, data centers, and >2,300 employees worldwide
  • Provide support for public/private multi-cloud architecture (Azure, AWS, VMware VCF/NSX, Equinix)
  • Engineering and administration of core foundational infrastructure: LAN/WAN/WLAN, Internet, MPLS, routing, switching, security (firewalls), SDWAN
  • Implementation and support of virtual network infrastructure
  • Implementation and administration of network monitoring, alerting and capacity planning tools and services
  • Support of remote access services (SSL VPN, Citrix, S2S VPNs)
  • Automation of network tasks and information gathering using scripts and tools
  • Planned lifecycle and incident driven change management complying with established standards, processes and procedures with no impact to business operations
  • Contribute towards continuous service improvement activities related to public cloud platforms and related services
  • Ensure all infrastructure components meet established SLA's, performance benchmarks and capacity standards
  • Participate in Change Management Review Boards and Root Cause Analysis meetings as required
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including standard operational procedures, runbooks and training documents
  • Draft and maintain accurate topology diagrams for all network infrastructure and services
  • Partner with other Infrastructure / IT service delivery teams supporting project planning, implementation and operational support
  • Collaborate with and mentor team members
  • Support 24x7 service management and operations coverage through an on-call rotation
  • Resolve incidents and issues for internal business partners, customer support teams and external partners


Preferred Qualification/Skills:



  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco/Meraki networking technology is required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of hands-on experience working with Cisco networking technology in a large multi-site enterprise.
  • Proven experience and success with LAN (chassis and stackable switches), WAN (routing and routing protocols), WLAN (cloud-managed access points) - all aspects of design, build and run.
  • Develop operational lifecycle plans and administration procedures as part of implementation.
  • Maintain compliance, supportability and security of the technology over the life of the product.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining firewall policies both internal and edge policies. (Cisco and Palo Alto experience preferred)
  • Experience supporting remote access services (SSL VPN, S2S VPNs).
  • Knowledge of telephony and Unified Communications technologies.
  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles and general network management best practices.
  • Understanding of and ability to implement leading edge network security best practices, policies, authentication, controls and audit procedures
  • Strong troubleshooting, event analysis interpretation and correlation.
  • Participate in periodic on-call duties to provide application support, incident management, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to use Visio/LucidChart to document network topologies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to support complex configurations, networks and architectures.
  • Must have ability to self-manage tasks and deliverables on assigned projects.
  • Enthusiastic and collaborative to work as part of a global network team supporting operations.


Desirable Skills and Qualifications:



  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP or other vendor certifications
  • Familiar with Cloud technology (public/private), Azure, AWS, VMware VCF/NSX, co-location)
  • Familiar with Cisco FTD/Palo Alto Panorama platforms
  • Experience with SD-WAN technology (Silverpeak/Aruba Networks optimization and load balancing)
  • Bridge the gap between development and operations using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
  • Proficiency in cloud networking protocols (OSPF, BGP, DNS, HTTP, VRF, IPSec, QoS).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Shell, Ruby, Perl, Python).
