Organization: Risk Division, Operational Risk Team / Role: Data Management Risk Level/Location: Senior Associate, Dallas The Operational Risk Department at Goldman Sachs is an independent risk management function responsible for developing and implementing a standardized framework to identify, measure, and monitor operational risk across the firm. Position Overview: We are seeking a candidate to develop and implement our operational risk metrics program. This role requires expertise in data analysis, metrics automation using business intelligence and visualization tool. This role requires an energetic self-starter that can liaise with Engineering teams both regionally and globally. Experience and knowledge in a regulated enterprise network, preferably financial institution's technology infrastructure/applications and control requirements are required together with strong interpersonal and analytical skills for this role. Responsibilities:
- Use BI tools to develop, monitor and report metrics to measure adherence to data management standards such as ownership, authoritative data sourcing, data quality controls.
- Work closely with engineering teams to identify and integrate relevant data sources.
- Lead the automation and data collection and reporting process using business intelligence tools to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Conduct thorough data analysis to identify existing risk, emerging risk and performance indicators translating complex data into actionable insights.
- Prepare regular reports to stakeholders and leadership highlighting key findings, trends and recommendations based on the metrics program.
- Develop metrics to support evidence-based challenges focused on improving all data management operations.
- Contribute to divisional and functional risk profile assessments by highlighting risk issues and trends to senior divisional managers and senior Operational Risk management team
- Identify, monitor, and analyze operational risks arising from data management practices such as prioritization of critical data, cataloguing of data lineage, data sourcing contracts, data governance standards, data quality controls and data quality monitoring.
- Facilitate operational risk event and data collection; perform detailed reviews of trends to identify significant risks and ensure monitoring and remediation.
- Remain current on business drivers, regulatory and industry changes impacting the firm's data governance activities and obligations
- Contribute to the advancement of operational risk methods and practices and the operational risk management framework
- Identify and drive initiatives that improve the risk management activities at the firm
Qualifications
- Strong data analysis skills: ability to expertly use SQL, Excel, Snowflake, Alteryx tools to design and implement metrics.
- Strong business acumen with general awareness of data governance related processes or strong grounding in operational risks and business flows
- 5+ years of relevant experience, which could include working in business intelligence and data analysis role
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present with impact and influence.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong delivery focus
- Strong organizational skills (project management experience a plus)
- Ability to work in a team environment and knowledge share with other colleagues within team
- Familiarity with enterprise risk management best-practices and controls
- Possess a bachelor's degree, Finance, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science, or related disciplines
