Sr. Environmental Health and Safety Manager

As the Sr. Environmental, Health and Safety Manager, you will be a leader in strategic planning, driving enhancements, and collaborating with teams to integrate EHS standards into all aspects of the company's operations. Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Develop and maintain close relationships with branch management, EH&S committees, and employees at multiple facilities. What you will do in this job:

  • Responsible for providing professional expertise and guidance to management and employees in all areas of Environment, Health & Safety.
  • Provide mentorship and training in regards to EHS skills and knowledge to team members, in and outside the EHS team.
  • Assist management and their EHS committees by diagnosing potential challenges and providing effective solutions.
  • Participate in all incident investigations and root cause analysis for workplace incidents/injuries.
  • Assist branches in implementing and sustaining the Corporate EH&S management system effectively and consistently.
  • Assist branch management with routine EHS inspections.
  • Identify deficiencies at branch level to assist in the development of corporate EH&S initiatives.
  • Provide accurate interpretations of applicable EHS legislation to Management.
  • Develop and implement loss prevention and EHS programs and practices to minimize or eliminate employee, vehicle accidents, property loss, and liability to the public.
  • Analyze data to identify continuous improvement opportunities. Use data to scope, communicate, and drive solutions to support operations.
  • Implement plans to address potential sources of loss and the protection of human and physical assets.
  • Identify safety and health hazards associated with business activities. Establish guidelines for protection from those hazards.
  • Respond and coordinate emergency response operations including medical, chemical, fire and evacuation/rescue, designating responders during and outside standard operating hours, and arranging for any necessary training.
  • Research, plan, organize, deliver and maintain programs to train managers and employees in EHS.
  • Participate in all federal, state and corporate investigations and EHS inspections. Assist in the preparation of material and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations.
  • Inspect facilities, work environments, machinery, and equipment to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measure have been implemented in conformance with corporate policy and governmental standards.
  • Assist with the compilation and submission of company data required by management and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain safety, safety training, environmental, and facility files and records as required by company policy and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist as needed with new employee orientation regarding safety policies.
  • Keep abreast of OSHA, safety and environmental laws, to keep the company in compliance with regulatory agencies and other applicable laws.
  • Manage and leverage outside EHS vendors.
  • Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS or 5+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Excellent knowledge of all environmental and safety-related federal, state, and local regulations and laws including but not limited to OSHA, MSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Ability to effectively train and mentor others
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers.
