This position will involve experiments including bacterial culture, mammalian cell culture, macrophage infections, microscopy, molecular biology, gene expression analysis, mammalian cell transfections, immunoprecipitations, protein gels, Western blotting; and perform other duties such as lab ordering/organization. The specialist will perform experiments with the bacterial pathogen Legionella pneumophila. General lab managerial tasks such as cataloging and ordering reagents are part of the position, and other duties as assigned. In addition independent research projects are available separate from the above describe duties. The Mukherjee lab is a highly collaborative space that is pushing the cutting edge of host-pathogen biology. Additionally, the specialist will be expected to assist with managing day-to-day lab operations, and perform general lab duties and be a positive lab citizen. Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: We are seeking at least a 2-year commitment. Depending on performance and workload, opportunities for independent research, mentorship of other trainees, and scientific writing will be available.
