Job Summary:

Nature of Work: The Department of Pathology seeks a full-time faculty member (Assistant, Associate or Professor) to provide medical and clinical laboratory leadership within the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Pathology. The role will be based full-time at Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) on the Anschutz Medical Campus. The position requires expertise and board certification in Clinical Pathology, with desired sub-specialization and board certification in chemical pathology or clinical chemistry. Other sub specializations in clinical pathology will also be considered. Prior experience serving as CLIA director of a moderate or high complexity laboratory is also preferred. CHCO has one of the most complex pediatric clinical laboratories in the country, including core laboratory, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, biochemical genetics, anatomic pathology, and complete transfusion services, including a blood donor center, cellular therapy and apheresis programs. The laboratory performs over 1.5 million tests annually and includes a team of 15 pathologists, with sub specialization in Pediatric Pathology, Neuropathology, Hematopathology, Molecular Pathology, and Transfusion Pathology. Employment Expectations:
- Facilitate the clinical care, administrative management, research, and teaching missions of the CHCO Clinical Laboratory and the University of Colorado Department of Pathology.
- Serve as a liaison between the CHCO Medical Staff and CHCO Clinical Laboratory for test selection, implementation, and interpretation.
- Provide medical direction of the CHCO Core Laboratory and work closely with laboratory operational leadership and technical staff to facilitate high quality laboratory and Point of Care-related clinical care. This includes identifying and addressing pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic variables that impact quality, cost effectiveness, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee clinical laboratory regulatory compliance and actively participate in the CHCO quality program ensuring all CHCO System of Care sites meet or exceed the clinical practice standards set by the College of American Pathology.
- Participate in the development of lab utilization tools, data analysis and utilization management in the CHCO clinical laboratory.
- Leverage the electronic health record and laboratory information systems to analyze and improve clinical workflow processes improving technical staff and hospital clinical staff efficiency.
- Serve as CLIA director for Network of Care sites, based on the successful candidate's scope of training, certification, and experience.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below: Assistant Professor: Requirements for clinical pathologist:
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.)
- Completion of CP or AP/CP Residency in Pathology with board certification in CP or AP/CP by the American Board of Pathology.
- Qualify for a full unrestricted license to practice pathology in the State of Colorado.
OR Requirements for clinical scientist:
- Graduate degree (Ph.D.)
- Completion of COMACC accredited fellowship with board certification in chemistry, toxicology, or both by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry.
Associate Professor: Requirements for clinical pathologist:
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.)
- Completion of CP or AP/CP Residency in Pathology with board certification in CP or AP/CP by the American Board of Pathology.
- Qualify for a full unrestricted license to practice pathology in the State of Colorado.
OR Requirements for clinical scientist:
- Graduate degree (Ph.D.)
- Completion of COMACC accredited fellowship with board certification in chemistry, toxicology, or both by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry.
- 5 years of faculty experience at academic medical center and independent research or peer reviewed publications.
- Clinical, teaching and scholarship accomplishments sufficient for an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor regular (tenure eligible) track required.
Professor: Requirements for clinical pathologist:
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.)
- Completion of CP or AP/CP Residency in Pathology with board certification in CP or AP/CP by the American Board of Pathology.
- Qualify for a full unrestricted license to practice pathology in the State of Colorado.
OR Requirements for clinical scientist:
- Graduate degree (Ph.D.)

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: Assistant Professor - $220,000 to $250,000 Associate Professor - $260,000 to $290,000 Professor - $275,000 to $325,000 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
