Fabricating Machine Operator 1, 2nd shift

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Fabricating Machine Operator 1, 2nd shift. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

Operates metal fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, saws, and presses, to cut, bend, straighten, and form metal plates, sheets, and structural shapes according to order specifications. Materials for parts used may include ordinary and alloy steel, cast iron, brass, bronze and other metals in the form of sheet metal, round bar, forging, castings and rolled steel parts. Fabricating equipment used may include Computer Assisted Brake Press, Sheet Shear, Drill Press, Ironworker. Must be able to perform minimum training requirements and all trainee operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. 
   

   Prepares parts for paint via washing or blasting.

   
   
2. 
   

   Loads and unloads paint line.

   
   
3. 
   

   Performs breakout and staging of laser cut parts.

   
   
4. 
   

   Operates fabrication equipment with general understanding of processes,and little guidance.

   
   
5. 
   

   Assembles valves and associated products (DFI, DCX) under the direction of trained operators.

   
   
6. 
   

   Cleans work area, tools, and equipment.

   
   
7. 
   

   Adheres to safety practices, 6S, and follows Fike policies and ISO9001.

   
   

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

This position will work second shift Monday - Thursday, 3:15pm - 1:45am

Compensation: The pay range for this is position is $20-$23/hr and is based on the candidate's experience

Work Environment:

The employee is frequently exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using appropriate moving devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to operate foot control while standing on one leg.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: High School Diploma or a General Educational Development Diploma (GED). Minimum of 6 months vocational training with 6 months of fabrication experience or 1 year minimum machining / manufacturing experience (Fike manufacturing experience). Ability to read, interpret and follow instructions, work order and engineered drawings. Exposure to performing multiple concurrent operations within a work cell environment

PREFERRED: Mechanical exposure or Vo-Tech training.
