The Role: The Odom Corporation is seeking a Corporate Controller to lead our accounting function and strengthen the accuracy, discipline, and scalability of our financial operations. This position owns financial close and reporting, accounting policies, external audit readiness, general-ledger integrity, and internal accounting controls. The Corporate Controller also leads and develops the accounting team while partnering with the CFO and operating leaders to improve processes, systems, and service to the business. If you are a hands-on accounting leader who combines strong technical judgment with practical process improvement and team development, we would like to hear from you. What You'll Do: Financial Close & Reporting
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and deliver accurate, timely financial reporting.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts, intercompany activity, and supporting accounting records.
- Improve close speed and reliability by standardizing work, resolving bottlenecks, and establishing effective review controls
Audit, Controls & Compliance
- Lead the annual external financial-statement audit and maintain year-round audit readiness
- Design, document, and monitor practical internal accounting controls across key financial processes
- Own accounting policies and significant technical conclusions under U.S. GAAP
- Identify and escalate material accounting, reporting, control, or compliance risk
Accounting Operations & Improvement
- Provide oversight across cash, receivables, payables, inventory accounting, fixed assets, and other controllership activities
- Clarify process ownership and eliminate unnecessary duplication, manual rework, and single-person dependencies
- Lead practical system and workflow improvements that increase accuracy, control, and efficiency
Team Leadership & Business Partnership
- Develop an accountable, service-oriented accounting team through clear expectations, coaching, cross-training, and succession planning.
- Partner with finance, operations, sales, supply chain, IT, HR, auditors, and advisors.
- Provide disciplined accounting insight to the CFO and senior leadership.
- Support business changes, acquisitions, supplier programs, and system implementations from an accounting and controls perspective
What We're Looking For: Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Progressive accounting leadership experience includes ownership of the monthly close, financial reporting, external audit, internal controls, and team leadership.
- Experience improving accounting processes, clarifying roles, and leading change in a multi-location, inventory-intensive, distribution, manufacturing, or consumer-products environment.
- Demonstrated command of U.S. GAAP and the ability to translate accounting requirements into practical business processes and controls
Preferred
- CPA license or active CPA credential
- Experience in beverage distribution, alcoholic-beverage distribution, Coca-Cola bottling or distribution, wholesale distribution, or a similarly regulated route-to-market business
- Experience with enterprise resource planning, warehouse or route-accounting systems, financial consolidations, and close-management or account-reconciliation tools
- Experience supporting acquisitions and financial systems implementations
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong technical accounting, financial reporting, audit, internal-control, and balance-sheet-management capability
- Ability to establish a disciplined close calendar, identify root causes, and improve speed without sacrificing accuracy or control
- Practical understanding of inventory accounting, supplier funding, customer deductions, rebates, deposits, fixed assets, cash, and other balance-sheet and transaction-accounting processes
- Advanced analytical and systems skills, including effective use of ERP data, Microsoft Excel, reporting tools, and workflow automation
- Clear executive communication and the ability to explain accounting matters to non-accounting leaders
Why Join Odom?
- Lead a critical enterprise function with meaningful access to senior leadership
- Shape accounting processes, systems, controls, and team capabilities
- Help modernize and scale a complex, multi-location business
- Gain exposure to a broad range of operating and financial matters
- Join a stable, family-owned company with a long history of success
- Make a visible impact on financial discipline, decision-making, and organizational performance
