Overview

ENERCON is seeking a Director, Components, Piping & CAD to lead our Components, Piping, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) organizations supporting our Commercial Nuclear, New Nuclear, and Federal Nuclear businesses. This leadership role will provide strategic direction and organizational oversight for the teams responsible for component engineering, piping engineering and design, and multidiscipline CAD/design services.

The Director will be accountable for the overall performance, capacity, and long-term capability of these organizations, ensuring our teams have the people, tools, processes, and technical capabilities necessary to successfully execute complex nuclear projects across our diverse client base.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Organizational Leadership & Strategy: Lead the Components, Piping, and CAD organizations and establish priorities and long-range capability plans aligned with the needs of our Commercial Nuclear, New Nuclear, and Federal Nuclear businesses.
  • Team & Talent Development: Lead and develop the managers and technical leaders responsible for each organization. Build a strong talent pipeline through recruiting, training, mentoring, career development, succession planning, and knowledge transfer.
  • Engineering & Design Performance: Drive consistent performance across the organization with a focus on safety, quality, schedule, budget, productivity, and accountability. Ensure effective execution of component engineering, piping engineering/design, and CAD activities.
  • Workforce & Capacity Planning: Maintain a forward-looking view of demand across all three nuclear markets and develop staffing and capability plans to support current commitments, future projects, and anticipated growth.
  • Design Capability & Technology: Ensure the organization has the standards, processes, tools, and skills necessary to efficiently deliver high-quality engineering and design products. Champion the advancement of 3D modeling, digital engineering, standardization, and integrated design practices.
  • Business & Project Collaboration: Partner with Commercial Nuclear, New Nuclear, and Federal Nuclear business leaders, Engineering, Chief Engineers, Project Management, and Operations to align resources and capabilities with project priorities and promote consistent, efficient execution across the organization.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Nuclear, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive engineering and/or design experience, preferably supporting nuclear, power generation, federal facilities, or other highly regulated industries.
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience managing engineering, design, or multidisciplinary technical organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: component engineering, piping engineering, piping design, plant design/layout, CAD, or 3D modeling.
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary projects through conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design and/or modifications to operating facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with workforce planning, resource management, recruiting, talent development, and organizational leadership.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design processes, design control, quality requirements, and disciplined engineering practices.
  • Proven ability to lead geographically dispersed teams and collaborate across Engineering, Project Management, Operations, and business leadership.
  • Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to travel overnight as required to support employees, projects, offices, and clients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading Components, Piping, CAD, plant design, or similar engineering/design organizations.
  • Experience supporting commercial nuclear power plants, New Nuclear/advanced reactor projects, and/or Federal Nuclear facilities and programs.
  • Experience with applicable nuclear piping and component codes, standards, and design requirements.
  • Experience with 3D plant design, digital engineering, model-based design, and multidisciplinary design integration.
  • Experience supporting major plant modifications, new facility design, and large multidisciplinary nuclear projects.
  • Experience supporting proposals, estimating, resource forecasting, and execution planning for large or complex projects.
  • Demonstrated success developing technical leaders and driving improvements in quality, productivity, and project execution.

Compensation Range

USD $178,400.00 - USD $267,600.00 /Yr.
