We're hiring a Director of Quality & Technical Services to join COUNTY PRESTRESS & PRECAST in Westmont, Illinois


Job Summary:


The Director of Quality & Technical Services acts as a strategic advisor to the Prestress Leadership boosting efficiency through commercial and operations continuous improvement, cross-functional projects, industrial engineer program, and direct oversite of the Prestress Division Quality Control Department. This is a dualfocused leadership role responsible for improving operational performance across the division while also developing architectural precast capabilities across multiple manufacturing plants. This role leads continuous improvement initiatives, standardizes processes, drives crossplant collaboration, and builds the technical, quality, and production foundation required to produce consistent, highquality structural and architectural precast products.


This individual partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality and Safety to elevate plant efficiencies, adding valuable input into design and manufacturing standards, and support multiplant development of architectural core competencies. The role acts as both an operational excellence leader and the primary driver for architectural best practices.



Job Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Leads division-wide quality control teams by strengthening standardized processes, systems, and controls.
  • Leads cost analysis initiatives to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Evaluate and execute improvements of production standards for mix design, formwork, embedding, finishing, curing, and quality requirements.
  • Trains and mentors plant teams on architecture processes, color and texture matching, finish consistency, and inspection techniques.
  • Provides input for the selection of architectural-capable plants and conducts readiness assessments for additional facilities.
  • Establishes standards for mock-ups, sample approvals, finish benchmarking, and customer-facing product demonstrations.
  • Ensure product consistency across plants through audits, feedback loops, and corrective action plans.
  • Partners with Engineering to develop standardized architectural details and modeling standards.
  • Facilitates cross-plant collaboration to incorporate best practices when practical.
  • Leads the development and execution of a multi-year operational excellence roadmap for all plants.
  • Partners with plant teams to improve throughput, reduce downtime, and optimize labor efficiency.
  • Develop standardized reporting metrics to improve accuracy, completeness, quality, and KPI consistency.
  • Provides guidance and training to strengthen reporting practices and KPI standards.
  • Supports resolution of complex field and project management issues in partnership with the Director of Project Management.
  • Identifies and implements technology enhancements that improve manufacturing efficiency and operational performance.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to support organizational objectives.
  • Promotes a culture of operational discipline, continuous improvement, and architectural excellence.
  • Develops and apply AI tools to strengthen industrial engineering practices.
  • Coach supervisors, leads, team members, and quality control technicians to strengthen technical expertise and process ownership.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between production, engineering, project management, and clients to resolve technical issues and deliver integrated solutions.

Experience & Qualifications: (Required or Preferred)


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Advanced degree in Business or Construction Management preferred


Experience



  • 7+ years of senior quality control management experience with demonstrated success in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong continuous improvement acumen


Skills



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong critical thinking abilities to address production nonconformance and logistical challenges
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities concurrently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Ability to lead diverse teams, foster a positive culture, and drive accountability and performance


Licenses / Certifications



  • PCI Certification - Level III



Work Environment:



  • Work is typically performed in Indoor/Outdoor/Mixed/Office/Field/Plant environment.
  • Exposure may include: Noise, weather, machinery, chemicals, public interaction, etc.
  • Travel required: 25%-50%
  • Typical work hours/shifts: Semi-Flex working schedule to meet the demands of production and organizational needs
