What to Expect
In this role, you will design, develop, and install new manufacturing lines for stamping and metal forming. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new lines with existing processes and ensure they meet Tesla's performance, safety, and quality objectives.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for design, installation and commissioning activities of manufacturing lines
- Support equipment design needs and necessary administrative tasks, such as RFQ creation, throughout multiple project phases
- Provides clear direction and correlates feedback from suppliers to ensure equipment quality and performance targets are met
- Analyze data to develop, troubleshoot and improve a variety of processes
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop engineering designs by validating key requirements such as cycle time, layout and tooling
- Make detailed studies and possess excellent problem-solving skills to mitigate any potential risk or design flaw
- Develop and execute detailed project timelines, open items, risks and report out to management and executives
- Facilitate equipment trials at both vendor sites and Tesla factories for final acceptance and handover to production teams
- Provides guidance to engineering technicians, interns and various team members as necessary
- Coordinate and work on activities with other cross functional teams such as Mechanical Design, Quality Engineering and Process Engineering teams
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 1+ year of experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
- Experience with process lines and automation, including brake presses, panel benders, lasers, tube fabrication, and mills
- Proficiency in CATIA, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD
- Strong project and vendor management skills
- Understanding of equipment safety and compliance standards
- Organized and able to deliver tasks on time in fast-paced environments
- Applies structured problem-solving methods to resolve engineering challenges
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support equipment supplier visits, trials, and buyoffs
