Construction and Project Estimator

Education Requirements

• Associate degree, technical training, or certification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent construction estimating and project management experience will be considered.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

Experience Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Construction Estimating, Project Management, Commercial Construction, Industrial Construction, or a related field.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
• Experience completing material takeoffs, quantity surveys, cost estimates, and project bids.
• Strong knowledge of concrete construction, foundations, rebar, anchor bolts, and heavy industrial building projects.
• Experience estimating labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, budgets, and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Project Manager or Construction Project Coordinator experience.
• AutoCAD experience and the ability to review drawings and obtain dimensions.
• Experience with Microsoft Project and project scheduling software.
• Knowledge of commercial building construction from foundation through completion.
• Experience with interior finishes, including flooring, ceilings, and wall systems.
• Strong communication skills when working with vendors, subcontractors, customers, and field personnel.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
• Ability to review plans, drawings, and project documents in both office and field environments.
• Ability to travel occasionally to construction job sites.
• Ability to navigate active construction sites while following all safety requirements.

Job Duties

• Review construction plans, specifications, and drawings for commercial and industrial construction projects.
• Prepare detailed construction estimates, cost analyses, project bids, and proposals.
• Complete material takeoffs and determine labor, equipment, and material requirements.
• Estimate projects involving concrete foundations, rebar installation, anchor bolts, structural components, and related construction activities.
• Assist with project planning, scheduling, procurement, budgeting, and cost tracking.
• Monitor project progress and compare actual costs against original estimates.
• Coordinate with site managers, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
• Identify potential budget, scheduling, material, or scope issues and recommend solutions.
• Conduct occasional job-site visits to support estimating, project planning, and project management activities.
• Maintain organized project files, drawings, estimates, and cost documentation.
