We are seeking an Systems Engineer 1 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business Unit.As part of (SES) Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, it systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high-growth markets.


Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications, services, and system integrations.
  • Translate functional, business, and technical requirements into software solutions.
  • Develop, test, debug, and deploy software using approved programming languages, frameworks, and development tools.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, architecture diagrams, code documentation, and user guides.
  • Participate in requirements gathering, system analysis, and solution design activities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and stakeholders to ensure successful system implementation.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and support user acceptance testing activities.
  • Implement software development best practices, including coding standards, version control, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
  • Ensure software solutions comply with applicable cybersecurity, privacy, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects, performance issues, and system vulnerabilities.
  • Support software installation, configuration, upgrades, and production deployments.
  • Monitor application performance and provide ongoing maintenance and technical support.
  • Develop and maintain APIs, databases, and system interfaces as required.
  • Participate in Agile, Scrum, DevSecOps, or other software development lifecycle activities.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance system functionality, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Coordinate with quality assurance personnel to ensure software products meet established quality standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and system resiliency initiatives as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive, proprietary, and customer information in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.

Qualifications

Key Requirements:

  • This position requires at least zero (0)+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer or Controls Engineer or in a related field.

Formal Education:

  • The incumbent must possess a B.S. in Engineering Technology or a related degree.

Personal Skills:

  • This position requires: The ability to work in a team environment. The desire and willingness to learn while on the job by working with more experienced web designers.
  • The ability to work with difficult individuals and retain agreeable working relationships.
  • The flexibility to handle changing requirements, deadlines, and expectations by corporate executives.
  • Moderate to strong written and verbal skills.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Work Experience:
  • The incumbent must have: Knowledge of network architecture (Ethernet, leased lines, etc.).
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and back office applications including SQL Server, enterprise backup systems, etc.

Personal Traits:

  • The following are requirements for employment: Knowledge of design techniques.
  • The ability to work with end customers. Pass a background investigation and a drug test. Stable work history. Valid work permit.
