Department Summary UNT Health Fort Worth is advancing a healthier future for a changing world through innovative research, discovery, and collaboration. Our internationally recognized faculty researchers are exploring new approaches to understanding and treating disease, with research strengths that include Aging and Alzheimer's Disease, Primary Care and Prevention, and Investigative Genetics. Research and Innovation supports and serves all UNT Health faculty, staff, and students by fostering research opportunities and helping advance discoveries from ideas to impact. The department provides support throughout the research process, including identifying opportunities, securing funding and resources, overseeing research activities, and ensuring adherence to institutional policies and regulatory requirements. Through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to research excellence, UNT Health Research and Innovation helps create an environment where faculty, staff, and students can pursue meaningful research that improves health outcomes and contributes to a healthier future. Position Overview This Joint Project Manager will serve as a liaison between UNT Denton and UNT Health to support and expand collaborative research, education, and innovation activities. The position will work with faculty, researchers, and institutional leadership at both campuses to identify shared interests, connect potential collaborators, and help move joint initiatives from initial ideas to implementation. Responsibilities will include coordinating the development of joint grant proposals, supporting collaborative research teams, and planning and executing joint research events, workshops, and other activities that encourage interaction across institutions. The Project Manager will also help identify funding opportunities, facilitate introductions among investigators with complementary expertise, and foster new and ongoing collaborations. The position will develop and maintain systems to track joint grants, partnerships, events, and other collaborative activities. This will include establishing program evaluation metrics, monitoring progress toward shared goals, preparing reports and updates for institutional leadership, and assessing the outcomes and impact of collaborative initiatives. The Project Manager will work closely with stakeholders across UNT Denton and UNT Health to ensure that collaborative opportunities are communicated, organized, and supported effectively, helping strengthen the institutions' shared research and educational mission. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and four (4) years related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Understanding of concepts and principals of project management. Understanding of how project management integrates within day to day processes. Ability to lead and direct teams on various projects at the same time and able to problem solve using judgment based on the analysis of information. Developed interpersonal skills to exchange project information with multiple audiences. Ability to consistently perform tasks independently and as a member of a team. Ability to manage projects in a way that inspires cross-functional team members to stay engaged and deliver excellent results. Demonstrated experience in executing plans and in monitoring and evaluating results. Ability to understand, embrace and advance organizational culture. Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail. Ability to multi-task. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent listener and have strong interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education, working with faculty across multiple disciplines, including biomedical, health sciences, clinical, or population health research. Experience facilitating collaborations. Experience with federal research agencies and funding mechanisms, such as NIH, NSF, or other relevant sponsors. Experience supporting institutional strategic initiatives and developing/implementing program evaluation and metrics. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Job Duties Serve as a primary point of contact and facilitator for faculty, staff, and leadership involved in UNT Denton/UNT Health initiatives, helping coordinate communication, navigate institutional processes, and sustain productive working relationships. Coordinate joint grant development activities between UNT Denton and UNT Health, including identifying funding opportunities, connecting investigators, organizing proposal development timelines, and facilitating communication among research teams and institutional offices Identify and foster collaborative research and educational opportunities by assessing shared areas of expertise, facilitating introductions, and helping faculty and programs develop new interinstitutional partnerships. Plan and coordinate joint research events and activities, including seminars, workshops, symposia, research showcases, networking events, and other initiatives designed to encourage cross-campus engagement. Manage collaborative projects and initiatives, including tracking milestones, managing deliverables, and addressing barriers to progress. Develop and maintain a centralized tracking and evaluation system for joint grants, research collaborations, events, partnerships, and other cross-institutional activities. Prepare regular reports, presentations, and communications summarizing collaborative activities, progress toward goals, outcomes, and opportunities for institutional leadership and other stakeholders.
