Summer 2027 - Lighting Engineering Internship Opportunity at HGA!

Locations: Minneapolis, MN or Milwaukee, WI

Begin to build your future at HGA! We have an excellent opportunity for a college or graduate school student for a paid summer internship in summer of 2027. The summer internship is typically 12 weeks in length beginning on or before June 1, 2027, through mid-August (depending on your schedule).

What you'll do:

As a Lighting Engineering Intern, you'll gain exposure to a wide variety of engineering experiences, including:

    Gain exposure to a wide range of lighting design projects and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
    • technical analysis;
    • calculations;
    • design documentation; and
    • thoughtful design solutions that support and elevate the overall project vision.
  • Contribute to projects across diverse markets, including healthcare, commercial, education, and cultural facilities.

What you'll bring:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architectural Engineering (with an emphasis in lighting systems), Architecture, Interior Design, or a related discipline from an accredited program.
  • Demonstrated interest in architectural lighting design, daylighting, visual environments, and the integration of lighting within the built environment.
  • Currently entering or completing your junior year or higher in an undergraduate program, or currently enrolled in a graduate program.
  • Knowledge of Revit is required.
  • Experience with AGi32 (AGI), Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, and other lighting analysis or visualization software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with lighting calculations, photometric analyses, rendering software, and design documentation.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills, with a desire to learn and contribute in a collaborative design environment.
  • Passion for design excellence and an interest in working on healthcare, commercial, education, science & technology, and cultural projects.
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.

Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Hourly Rate: $24.00/hour - $25/hour (Mid-West).
