Inova Alexandria Hospital is looking for a dedicated Patient Access Associate to join the Physical Medicine and Rehab team. This role will be Full-Time, Monday-Friday; 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM.

Patient Access Associate Job Responsibilities:

  • Patient Intake, Registration and Documentation: Registers patients, verifies identity and insurance, collects basic information, enters demographics, and scans forms.

  • Administrative & Technology Operations: Scans documents, answers phones, and uses electronic medical record (EMR) and eligibility tools.

  • Case Management Tasks: Notifies case managers and documents referrals.

  • Financial Counseling: Provides estimates and collects payments.

  • Insurance & Contract Coordination: Verifies basic eligibility and coverage.

  • Inquiries & Patient Concerns: Answers routine questions and escalates issues.

  • Kiosk: Assists with check-in and troubleshoots basic issues at patient kiosks.

  • Patient Communication & Advocacy: Provides appointment and billing information and offers empathy.

  • Referrals: Documents and routes referrals.

  • Scheduling: Schedules routine appointments.

  • Transport: Requests routine transport and confirms details.

  • Health Information Management (HIM) Coordination: Flags duplicate records and scans identification.

  • Utilization Review Coordination: Flags cases needing review.

  • Compliance: Ensures compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.

  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High School or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience: healthcare/customer service experience
