Valiant is looking for an Undersea & Integrated Maritime Warfare (USW) Specialist to join our team! The Undersea & Integrated Maritime Warfare (USW) Specialist to support Undersea Warfighting Development Center (UWDC) San Diego CA. UWDC, under the direction of Commander Submarine Forces (COMSUBFOR), leads undersea superiority and enables the combat lethality and desired effects generated from and within the Undersea Domain. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver undersea and integrated maritime warfare subject matter expertise, analysis, strategy, and support necessary to optimize undersea warfare (USW) and integrated maritime warfare concept plans (CONPLAN), operational plans (OPLAN), doctrine, tactics, systems, equipment, requirements, and other objectives.
- Support preparations, execution, and tasking regarding Echelon 1 (and subordinate) executive steering groups, initiatives, exercises, operations, plans of actions & milestones (POA&Ms), and assignments including but not limited to: Navy Warfare Commander's conference (WARCOM), Submarine Force Warfighting Synchronization, Group and Major Commanders Officer Training Symposium, Bamboo Eagle, Keen Edge, Pacific Fury, Global series, Joint Warfighting Concept.
- Analyze, coordinate, author, and progress UWDC plans, policy, briefs, and products regarding USW & maritime warfare integration, key operational problems (KOP), widely informed capabilities, and joint warfighting.
- Conduct analytical studies of doctrine, policies, issues, equipment, systems, and weapons which have a major impact on national deterrence policy in development/improvement of long-range plans such as mobilizations and deployments, and other similar operations or contingency plans.
- Provide advice and conduct analysis with respect to maritime USW policy and TTPs supporting Navy and Joint USW programs and operational and tactical employment of delivery systems.
- Recommend improvements in submarine equipment, operations, sensing, operator and crew readiness training, tactics evolution, and data collection.
- Liaise between warfighting and technical communities.
- Travel approximately 5-10 occasions per year to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
- Other duties as assigned.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Active TS/SCI
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor's degree (advanced degrees preferred) in relevant field or equivalent experience.
LOCATION:
- San Diego CA preferred, consideration may be given to Groton CT, Pearl Harbor HI, or Norfolk VA, the work is classified and must be performed at UWDC facilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Expertise in undersea, integrated maritime, and joint warfare operations, policies, principles, tactics, techniques, procedures (TTPs), training, equipment, command relationships, responsibilities, and current/future mission sets across strategic, operational, and tactical levels of war.
- Expertise in development and execution of maritime, USW, and integrated warfare plans.
- Expert knowledge of strategic planning theories, concepts, systems, and national security decision-making process.
- Expertise in current and emerging technologies supporting integrated, maritime, and USW operations.
- Knowledge of Navy, Department of Defense (DoD), and joint doctrine, development, and organizational design and material development process to serve as subject matter expert and ensure thorough linkage with Joint Service and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) doctrine and TTP.
- Ability to interface and communicate with internal and external stakeholders and customers to quickly ascertain requirements and cooperate to fulfill those requirements within existing technology and resource constraints.
- Exceptional writing skills to develop executive level correspondence at Flag/Senior Executive Service (SES) level.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint.
- Demonstrated superior attention to detail, coupled with a proven history of working issues with other staff members, understanding their requirements, and the ability to solve problems independently.
- Advanced military training (ex: JPME, MAWS, JAWS, etc.) and staff experience (ex: ECH I/II/III/IV).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a passport and driver's license.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees.
