Job Overview & Responsibilities

As the leader of the Configuration Management, Tech Services and Simulation Engineering team in our Central Engineering Services Organization you will be responsible to lead the development, maintenance, and release of complex engineering product definition data by applying company, industry, and governmental standards. Utilizing Siemens Teamcenter PLM, NX and Creo CAD tools, Leader oversees the enterprise, development, and maintenance of enterprise-level 3D parametric models, 2D drawings, Model-Based Definition (MBD) datasets, and product structures across all technologies including but not limited to: mechanical/structural, fluid, and electrical disciplines.


This Leader will drive development and process improvement efforts, mentors their team via experience and drives strategic initiatives for enhancement in PLM and Engineering Product Definition standards and processes. A Leader in Central Engineering Services supervises and develops engineering staff while ensuring high performance and process consistency across all programs. Focus areas include staffing, development, compliance, standardization, conflict resolution, and customer relationship management.


Responsibilities Include:



  • Supervise, mentor, and develop Configuration Management, Tech Services and Simulation Engineering employees.
  • Deliver world class drawings and Model Based Definitions with clear and correct GD&T and PMI.
  • Work across organizational boundaries fostering understanding of CM processes and their importance to the product lifecycle and supporting business requirements.
  • Ensure compliance for engineering release and documentation standards.
  • Resolve escalated customer or technical issues.
  • Lead departmental improvements and standardization efforts.
  • Represent Central Engineering Services in cross-department initiatives.
  • Support proposals and evaluate new opportunities.
  • Maintain frequent communication with customers and team members to resolve issues and provide exceptional products, solutions, and service.
  • Actively promote, encourage and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement (of tools, processes, methods and guidance material).
  • Mentor/coach/manage team which includes performance reviews, Merits, Promotions and creating immersive training activities.
  • Develop estimates at completes (EAC), contract negotiations, Cost Account Manager (CAM) duties and providing status to ULA senior leadership.
  • Perform timely feedback to team members.
  • Build an inclusive team that trusts each other.

Minimum of 8 years of related work experience



Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical or relevant field
  • At least 8 years applicable experience in the associated technical or administrative area, with at least 2 years managing people, project management or team lead experience or a combination of the three
  • Demonstrated leadership experience leveraging teamwork and development opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with personnel issues to ensure performance and team cohesiveness
  • Experience with issue resolution and working with cross-functional teams
  • Written and oral communication/presentation skills
  • Experience briefing senior leaders and customers
  • Small and large team leadership and mentoring experience
  • CAM knowledge and processes
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to tackle and fix complicated cross organizations challenges and conflicts
  • Detailed knowledge of configuration management processes and procedures
  • Experience with configuration identification, change control, status accounting, audit and data management
  • Experience working to EIA-649, ISO and AS9100 requirements
  • Experience with configuration audits on established operational baselines to include PCA and FCA's
  • Detailed knowledge of the ULA drawing release system and processes
  • Ability to review and assess data integrity against standards and train others to understand and adhere to those standards
  • Extensive Knowledge of Team Center or a related PLM System
  • Extensive Knowledge of Model Base Engineering
  • Experience with production and launch operations
  • Understanding of SAP/ERP and Supply Chain operations.
  • Ability to travel occasionally



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in CAD modeling (Siemens NX), product lifecycle management (PLM) software (Teamcenter), and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T drawing standards per ASME Y14.5M and/or ISO)
  • Highly numerate with good technical and analytical skills, problem-solving ability and capable of systems level thinking.
  • Have appropriate engineering experience in conceptual and detail design, detail definition methods and a good understanding of manufacturing techniques.
  • Ability to present in front of customers and working with customers.
  • General data review skills.
  • Be willing to acknowledge fault immediately and learn from the mistake.
  • Be open to constructive feedback.

Summary Salary Range (forULA - Denveronly): $140,737.00 - $261,369.00

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
