Summary:

The Division Mechanical Specialist is responsible for the support of mechanical operations as it applies to daily activities and associated projects for assigned locations within the Division. The Mechanical Specialist's responsibilities include technical support, training, project development and execution, O&M and Capital budget support and management, as well as support of corporate initiatives/projects. The Mechanical Specialist also works with operation locations to provide support for maintaining compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements related to emissions testing, overhaul management, as well as response and support of mechanical related emergencies. The Division Mechanical Specialist reports to the Director of Technical Operations. Position may be located out of Epps, La, Sterlington, LA, Ruston, LA, or Bossier City.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Candidate must have an excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Candidate must have the ability to work with mechanics having various experience levels.
  • Candidate expected to have experience with Low Speed integral reciprocating compressors, High Speed separable reciprocating compressor and especially Turbine driven centrifugal compressors.
  • Candidate expected to have experience with programable logic controllers and associated end devices.
  • Candidate expected to have operation, maintenance, and administrative experience. Candidate should have effective written & verbal communication, as well as interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter, have good organizational skills, and be able to accept constantly changing priorities.
  • Willingness to work in an environment where compensation is tied to performance and skill level.

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:



  • Basic education with specialized course work or training in physical sciences, mathematics, mechanical technology, and personnel management.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive turbine experience is a plus.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft applications, SAP and Apttus.
  • Previous experience in conducting group training sessions is a plus.
  • Should be a good communicator and work planner with excellent work ethics.


Working Conditions:



  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • The Division Mechanical Specialist is required to live within 45 minutes of the work location.
  • Incumbent is subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and extended work-days and/or work-weeks.
  • Required to carry a cell phone, and is subject to 24-hr/day callout at any time for emergency response.
  • Ability to travel is required and may be extensive, at times.
  • Candidate must have a proven safe driving record.
  • Work areas include industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment be worn.
